Farewell to Fynn Valley

'Parting is such sweet sorrow'

On Sunday 31st October Ipswich Crochet Club said its final farewells to Fynn Valley.

Despite the many happy memories accumulated over the past 9 years, it is time to move on.

This may be the end of an era but it heralds the beginning of a new and exciting chapter in the history of Ipswich Croquet Club.

Now the Club has the opportunity and means to expand, and create those quality lawns it has always dreamed of - fit for both local and national competitions.

Winter quarters

Nacton Sports Field

While the new croquet facility is under construction,  Nacton Playing Field and Cricket Club have kindly allowed Ipswich Croquet Club to set up two 2/3 sized courts on an area of the cricket ground and use its clubhouse.

The club has already moved its equipment to Nacton and now looks forward to an enjoyable winter season.

The croquet club also invites Nacton residents to try their hand at croquet on Saturday mornings. A friendly face will be on hand to introduce newcomers to the sport and help them get started. The club has all the equipment needed - all that is required is a pair of flat-soled shoes.

New permanent home

A first class facility

After a long and often frustrating search the club has now found a suitable site on which to build a brand new croquet facility.

This is a major undertaking and will be phased over 3 to 5 years.

Phase 1, which includes 2 full sized courts, a pavilion and washroom facilities, is scheduled to be completed by spring this year when the club will move in.

Later phases will see the addition of 2 further full sized courts and further improvement to the club's facilities.

This is a club that is definitely

'on its way up'.
